Time to plan IT that's fit for the future
The last 12 months have seen many carefully laid technology plans blown off course, driving IT investments in unforeseen directions. COVID-19 has had a major impact on IT investment decisions. Its distorting effect has seen investment in some areas accelerate massively, while other plans have by necessity fallen by the wayside. So with recovery in sight, where do we go from here? What should enterprise IT plans look like, and how confident should CIOs feel about implementing them?

The self driving warship: US Navy's 132ft-long 'Sea Hunter' drone that will scour oceans for enemy subs takes to the seas
The 132ft-long (40-metre) unarmed prototype, dubbed Sea Hunter, is the naval equivalent of Google's self-driving car, designed to cruise on the ocean's surface without a crew. The ship's projected $20 million (£14.2 million) price tag and its $20,000 (£14,300) daily operating cost make it relatively inexpensive for the navy Hyperloop-inspired TRAIN could be ready next year:... Moon lava tubes below the surface could be large enough for human colonies
Could we live INSIDE the moon? Stable tubes up to three miles wide could exist under the moon's surface These networks of caverns could be used to provide shelter for lunar bases Sub-lunarean bases could avoid the hazards associated with living on the surface, including meteor showers and increased radiation Stable tubes up to three miles wide could exist under the moon's surface Networks of lava tubes which snake under the moon's surface suggests they could be larger and more stable than previously thought. The large caverns are thought to have been formed from lava flows which have dried out. Scientists have found a way to tap into... Ford wants to use drones to guide its self-driving cars:...
